Harvey AI Opens Singapore Office: Legal Tech Giant Expands to Asia-Pacific
Date: March 16, 2026
San Francisco-headquartered legal tech startup Harvey AI, whose clients include some of Singapore's top law firms, is setting up shop in the city-state with plans to hire more than 32 people in sales, operations, and legal engineer positions. The new office, slated to open in June 2026, marks a significant expansion of the company's presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
Why Singapore?
Harvey AI's decision to open a Singapore office reflects the company's strategic focus on the Asia-Pacific market, which the company calls a "major growth engine." The startup already serves over 100 clients across the region and has existing relationships with prestigious Singapore law firms including Rajah & Tann, Drew & Napier, and WongPartnership.
"We have a strong base of existing customers in Singapore, so supporting them is critical," said Harvey's Chief Operating Officer Katie Burke in an e-mail interview. "The Asia-Pacific is a major growth engine for us, and Singapore sits at the intersection of legal, financial and tech innovation," added CEO Winston Weinberg.
Singapore's forward-thinking approach to legal AI governance and its position as a regional hub for both finance and technology made it the natural choice for Harvey's next expansion. The city-state's court system has also been embracing AI, with the Singapore Judiciary rolling out a generative AI tool to assist individuals representing themselves in the Small Claims Tribunals in 2025.
What Harvey AI Does
Named after Harvey Specter, the brilliant lawyer character from the TV series Suits, Harvey AI has developed an AI platform that helps lawyers summarise documents, draft and review legal filings, and answer legal questions. The platform runs on large language models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, which are further trained on proprietary legal data and case laws.
At Rajah & Tann, Harvey is used as a repository of the firm's in-house pre-drafted documents, enabling dispute lawyers to search for materials using everyday language. This practical application demonstrates how legal AI is moving beyond experimental pilots to real-world deployment in Singapore's legal sector.
The Growing Legal AI Market
Harvey AI is one of the most prominent AI legal startups globally, currently valued at US$8 billion (S$10.2 billion) as of December 2025. The company is reportedly in talks for a new funding round that could push its valuation to around US$11 billion. More than 100,000 lawyers in 60 countries have adopted its AI platform.
The Singapore office will be the company's third regional setup, following expansions to Bengaluru, India, and Sydney, Australia over the last six months. With 12 offices already around the world, Harvey's move into Singapore underscores the city-state's growing importance as a legal tech hub in Asia.
Implications for Singapore's Legal Sector
The opening of Harvey's Singapore office signals growing confidence in the city's legal market and its readiness for AI adoption. With over 32 new hires planned for sales, operations, and legal engineer positions, the expansion will also contribute to Singapore's AI talent ecosystem.
As more legal AI companies establish presence in Singapore, local law firms and legal professionals gain better access to cutting-edge technology that can improve efficiency and reduce costs. The competition also promises to drive innovation and potentially lower barriers to AI adoption for smaller firms.
Singapore's position at the crossroads of legal, financial, and tech innovation makes it ideally suited to host regional headquarters for global legal AI companies. Harvey's expansion is likely the first of many similar moves we can expect to see in the coming years.
